FSNNA Mission

Our Mission

Founded in 2018, Fan Studies Network – North America (FSNNA) is a scholarly organization dedicated to the academic study of fans and the things they do.

FSNNA promotes critical, nuanced understandings of fan communities, practices, and labor through research grounded in interdisciplinary practices and conventions. FSNNA supports scholars worldwide, regardless of traditional institutional affiliation, as they situate fan-subjects within relevant contexts, whether social, cultural, theoretical, artistic, global, or beyond. Through offerings such as our annual international conference, FSNNA seeks to further the advancement of fan studies as a scholarly area and to provide resources and information for researchers, educators, the general public, and fans themselves.
