Fan Studies Network

FSN North America is an offshoot of the original Fan Studies Network, an organization based in the United Kingdom and founded by Lucy Bennett and Tom Phillips. FSN holds an annual conference in early summer at universities throughout the UK. Formed in March 2012, the Fan Studies Network was created with the idea of cultivating an international friendly space in which scholars of fandom could easily forge connections with other academics in the field, and discuss the latest topics within fan studies. Having attracted close to 300 members across the world, the network is already fostering a sense of community and engendering fruitful debate. FSN Australasia is another offshoot organization of FSN and held its first conference at the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia under the direction of Bertha Chin, Renee Middlemost, Sue Turnbull, and Ika Willis.
